History

Eco Skate are a small family run business, providing high quality synthetic ‘ice’ rinks, roller skating rinks and curling lanes, alongside exceptional customer service.

Eco Skate began when Richard, the company director noticed there was a gap in the market for an activity that was fun and enjoyable for the whole family, that offered something different without being logistically challenging, without a hefty price tag and could be hired by anybody, but could also be a show stopping addition to an event; and as they say, the rest is history- with over 1400 successful events under Richard’s belt, it’s no wonder we have return custom every year, leaving all manner of clients, from BIDs to small primary schools and their PTA’s, along side many others, happy and returning to book again.

Important Information and FAQs

Is there a restriction on how long I can hire a rink for?

Here at Eco Skate, we can provide our services to you for any length of time you require, whether it be for 3 hours or 3 months, we can do it all.

Do you only offer your services at Christmas time?

Not at all! We work all year round- so if you are organising an event outside of the winter months and an ice rink isn’t for you, then have no fear, just grab your roller skates and get ready to boogie on down like it’s 1979 with one of our roller rinks. These are a real hit through the spring and summer months and are always a hit!

Is it a safe activity?

We are proud to say we have a 100% safety record for any events held with us, and have a full £10m liability insurance for any accidents that may occur, as well as a full risk assessment provided upon booking. We also provide you with skating aids for little ones or for people who are uncertain on the ice! We are also proud to say here at Eco Skate, we have the facilities for wheelchair users to be able to use the rinks too, so they can still experience all the magic that an Eco Skate rink brings.

How is it eco friendly?

With our synthetic rinks, there is no water consumption nor CO2 footprint for the operation of the rink itself. The only electricity that is used is that of the PA system for the music, and lighting that is required during hours of darkness whilst operating. Our only CO2 emissions here are that of the delivery and collection vehicle. With an Eco Skate rink, there is no need for big, bulky and intrusive infrastructure, and they do not require large chillers to operate. How big are your rinks?

We build to a variety of sizes, our most popular sizes being 9m x 8m, 10m x 10m and 12m x 12m. However, we can build as big or small as is required for your event , we can also build inside and outside, and we can build to your specifications if looking for something really extraordinary.

We only have a small area, do you require lots of space?

Not at all! We only require the space for your rink size, and 3.5m at one end of the rink for our skate hire and changing area!

Can it go on our school field?

Yes it can, as long as a flat, firm wooden base is provided.

Do you offer a staffed option?

Yes we do! We have a bank of highly reliable, well trained and experienced staff here at Eco Skate, who can assist with anything you may need their help with! If staff are not needed, we also give full training to your staff on how to care for the rink on your hire period!

How long is installation and removing the rink?

Dependent on size, it takes on average between 3 and 4.5 hours to install a full rink, and between 1 and 3 hours to take down and remove the rink, so you can get back to normal!

This all sounds great, but is it expensive?

We are more than happy to discuss any costings with you, and we can work with any budget you may have to help get you a suitable rink. We understand that the cost of living is affecting companies and families greatly, so we are happy to share with you that here at Eco Skate any quote that is given or any booking price is VAT FREE, therefore saving on the overall cost without compromise on our standards and quality. We pride ourselves on great customer service, and we will always listen to our customers requirements and needs, whatever that may be to make your event a success!
